Welcome to The Cinemathusiast!

A passion project of mine for years, I'm so excited to start The Cinemathusiast, a site dedicated to personal film reviews and cinema-related blog series.

This is a just a quick introduction of the site. Descriptions of upcoming blog series are below.

NEW RELEASES: Films recently released in theaters along with those on streaming services with theatrical runs for awards purposes.

OSCAR ANNIVERSARIES: Throughout the year, I will be posting full reviews for a slew of Oscar-nominated films celebrating their 10th, 25th, 50th, and 75th anniversaries on the anniversary of their release date.

REVISITING CHILDHOOD MEMORIES: Reviews of films I haven't seen since I was a kid to see if they still hold up. Most of them will be from the 80's and 90's.

MIRROR, MIRROR: Reviews of films alongside their newly released remakes, and there are quite a few of those every year!

STREAMING ROULETTE: Published every Sunday, a list of films watched that previous week with links to their reviews (via Letterboxd). All films will be chosen randomly via the app ReelGood. Exceptional films ("Hidden Gems") will have full-length reviews, as will those in the "Revisiting Childhood Memories" and "Underappreciated Film Music" series.

UNDERAPPRECIATED FILM MUSIC: As a lover of film music, I want to discuss several scores and songs that have flown under the radar over the years. This series goes hand-in-hand somewhat with "Revisiting Childhood Memories" in that it will be mostly from films I grew up with.

THE CINEMATIC CHRONICLES: The largest project I will ever work on! Starting with 1927 (the first year of eligibility for the Academy Awards) and working my way up, I will be watching as many films as I can and creating my own film awards. Eligibility dates with the Oscars have changed over the years, but I will try to keep my rules consistent, although they are subject to change.

Posts will be uploaded throughout the week. At the end of each week I will provide a weekly list of all the films seen that week with links to their reviews. This includes watching films picked at random from ReelGood's Streaming Roulette. Feel free to leave comments. Opinions are encouraged, hate speech is not!
